Barents on my mind

The first Youth Seminar of the Finnish Chairmanship Barents on my mind was held in Rovaniemi, 15.-17.9.2014. The aim of the seminar was to examine the situation of young people in the Barents region of different perspectives. The main theme, social inclusion of young people was approached by following workshops: employment and entrepreneurship, education, participation and identity. Some crucial issues were repeatedly covered during the seminar: learning languages, communication, getting to know each other, traveling in the region, participating and taking the chances. “We don’t want to be just the painters; we want to be a part of the builders”.

Regional climate change strategies

Regional climate change strategy work in the Barents region was facilitated by a workshop, organized by BEAC Working Group on Environment in September 2014. Regions that already have a climate change strategy shared their practical experiences with those who are starting the strategy process. More information and the presentations will be available soon on a separate web page.
